Do you remember what freedom tastes like?
It has aroma of the sea and wind, a mixture of floral and earthy notes and sense of time that has been stretched to eternity to dwell on the very essence of life and joy to do things that matter to you most in your own pace.
Having your own space for life and the order of things in it the way you want them to be is a modern blessing in disguise.
As property prices and construction costs around the Globe grow each year owning a home -in whatever sense you like-is becoming less affordable, which leads us to borrowing money from the bank and set on a journey of becoming “a prisoner”, in a sense, for 20 years and more.
Portugal has a unique blend of the Ocean, hills and mountains, rivers and fantastic weather spiced with fresh and delicious food and wine along with all year warmth and country’s kind and friendly citizens and safety that allows you to relax into Life.
As we are living with you in the Algarve, closest to the ocean, we can observe the market tendency being at its highest levels which makes it less easy and affordable to find a home closer to the sea (where many of us aim to be) and towns in its close proximity. Due to the increase of interest in certain areas houses not only become more expensive but also more crowded and noisy, new developments shrink in size and often suffer in quality.
This makes it only natural to move out towards quieter areas of beautiful suburbs in the region with close proximity to shops, schools and other amenities.
There is an abundance of “terreno rústico” (agricultural land) throughout, most of them often have fruits trees and amazing views and currently rustic plots are listed at a lower value which is worth purchasing before it becomes in demand.
We loved the subject of discussion in the article in imobiliario.publico.pt
Currently there is a law in force which does not allow you to build a regular house on a rustic plot but it seems that the authorities are changing the approach and the way we look at it.
And that’s when sustainable housing comes into picture.
We are huge fans of living out of town, closer to nature and bring inside of our home to an outside into the almost eternal Portuguese summer.
We would love to see this sector to be explored and when more people show interest in sustainable construction rustic plot purchase will increase in demand.
We will keep an eye on the future and the changes it will bring and hope to be able to find great plots for you to build your new home in idyllic settings.
With love,
Eliana & Dinara
